Version Notes -- This release was a maintenance and optimization release for the new import engine. It also included some admin and import updates that have long been needed. Most notable is the forced refreshing of jobs every time they are imported. This has a twofold effect of solving the problem with jobs being stale or expired on the site and improving the accuracy of job imports. It also eliminates many issues that were occasionally preventing a job from being indexed and displayed.

The new features provide compatibility with new US Department of Labor job search sites, enable more accurate tracking of traffic and simplify the process of importing jobs from applicant tracking systems to .JOBS Microsites.

Enhanced support for Schema.org’s Job Posting standard frees employers from needing to pay a job board or aggregator to publish jobs to US Department of Labor initiatives. According to Rick Wherle, VP of Product Development, “Support for Schema.Org now enables .JOBS Microsite owners to submit their .JOBS Microsites to US Department of Labor job banks like SummerJobs 2012 and the National Resource Directory.”

Several major modifications were made to the system during this release cycle. Most notable is the separation of the Solr indexing and the Job Feed processing. These processes now run in parallel instead of in sequence, which makes for faster and more accurate indexing process.

Version Notes - This was primarily a preparatory release for an upcoming rewrite of the import engine. The goal was to get the system running more efficiently, more accurately, and to prepare it for the upcoming modifications, which are extensive.

Major Modifications - Job Import Accuracy Improvements Jobs are now processed in bulk asynchronously instead of in serial as they arrive. This backend processing change improves the accuracy of the import process and reduces errors that result in dropped jobs. A backend switch was also made in what data the import process uses to index jobs. This has decreased the load on the import server.
